How to Watch The Conjuring Universe in Order

This may be an easy question to answer.  How do we watch the Conjuring movies in chronological order?  Yeah I think it is an easy questions for die hard fans, but there are others who may not know.  Of course there are certain parts of each movie that takes place in the past, but we’re going to focus on the main story.  For example, A

nnabelle Creation begins in 1943, but it flashes forward 12 years to 1955, the main story taking place after The Nun, which takes place in 1952.  On our watch order, you’d get the Nun out of the way first.  The great thing, as you move on through the chronological order, the movies get better.  We are adding the Curse of La Llorona, there has been a question of whether or not it counts as a part of the Conjuring Universe.  We are going to have it on ours, but you do not if you don’t feel like it.  There are other movies that could even fall in this if you wanted to stretch, A Haunting in Connecticut comes to mind as the Warrens did investigate the case.  But, it was released in 2009, before the first Conjuring film and does not feature Ed and Lorraine Warren.

One of the reasons I wanted to do this, I was curious myself, but the websites I found the watch order were littered with ads and it was hard to get through the lists.  I really hate that, we don’t have pop-up ads because do this out of our love for the genre.  I honestly do really enjoy these movies and I know others do too.  So, enjoy the list and watch order of the current Conjuring films.  I cannot wait to get more!

-1952-

The Nun (2018)

When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together, they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun.

-1955-

Annabelle Creation (2017)

Former toy maker Sam Mullins and his wife, Esther, are happy to welcome a nun and six orphaned girls into their California farmhouse. Years earlier, the couple’s 7-year-old daughter Annabelle died in a tragic car accident. Terror soon strikes when one child sneaks into a forbidden room and finds a seemingly innocent doll that appears to have a life of its own.

-1967-

Annabelle (2014)

John Form (Ward Horton) thinks he’s found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia (Annabelle Wallis) : a vintage doll in a beautiful white dress. However, the couple’s delight doesn’t last long: One terrible night, devil worshippers invade their home and launch a violent attack against the couple. When the cultists try to summon a demon, they smear a bloody rune on the nursery wall and drip blood on Mia’s doll, thereby turning the former object of beauty into a conduit for ultimate evil.

-1971-

The Conjuring (2013)

In 1971, paranormal investigators and demonologists Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed (Patrick Wilson) Warren are summoned to the home of Carolyn (Lili Taylor) and Roger (Ron Livingston) Perron. The Perrons and their five daughters have recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence has made itself known. Though the manifestations are relatively benign at first, events soon escalate in horrifying fashion, especially after the Warrens discover the house’s macabre history.

-1972-

Annabelle Come Home (2019)

Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren lock the possessed doll in the artifacts room in their house. But when the doll awakens the room’s evil spirits, it soon becomes an unholy night of terror for the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, her friends and their young baby sitter.

-1973-

The Curse of La Llorona (2019)

In 1970s Los Angeles, the legendary ghost La Llorona is stalking the night — and the children. Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother, a social worker and her own kids are drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope of surviving La Llorona’s deadly wrath is a disillusioned priest who practices mysticism to keep evil at bay.

1977

The Conjuring 2 (2016)

In 1977, paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren come out of a self-imposed sabbatical to travel to Enfield, a borough in north London. There, they meet Peggy Hodgson, an overwhelmed single mother of four who tells the couple that something evil is in her home. Ed and Lorraine believe her story when the youngest daughter starts to show signs of demonic possession. As the Warrens try to help the besieged girl, they become the next targets of the malicious spirit.

1981

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one of the most sensational cases of their careers after a cop stumbles upon a dazed and bloodied young man walking down the road. Accused of murder, the suspect claims demonic possession as his defense, forcing the Warrens into a supernatural inquiry unlike anything they’ve ever seen before.

There you go, sorry I went lazy and just posted the synopsis.  I wanted to give my thoughts, but I’d rather do a proper ranking of these movies now that there are eight.  But, I want more of these, especially with the Warrens.  Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are great and they hold this universe together.  I hope there are more Conjuring films and spin-offs.  Why not, they make a crap ton of money.  There have been talks of a Crooked Man film, The Nun 2 sounds like it is in production.  The Warrens on the other hand, have so many other cases after the Arne Johnson case, the Snedeker House, The Smuri family and Union Cemetery and not to mention a remake of The Haunting in Connecticut.  It is kind of too bad we only get mentions of Amityville, but we know what happened and there are two movies that cover the Lutz family with The Amityville Horror (1979) and the 2005 remake.

Thanks for checking this out and I hope it helps anyone who wonders the chronological order of the Conjuring Universe films.
