All of the trailers for season seven of American Horror Story, have really just been teasers thus far, until today, when we finally got a real trailer with actual footage from the show, and finally get to really a get grasp on what will be happening this season.
The trailer shows that this season, entitled American Horror Story: Cult, Sarah Paulson’s character Ally, who was distraught over the 2016 presidential election results, having to deal with her Coulrophobia (fear of clowns) which has been worsening since election night, and how it affects her partner, Ivy, played by Alison Pill, and their child. We also see that Evan Peters’ character Kai, having the exact opposite reaction to the election as Ally, and being ecstatic about the results, and seemingly helping Ally’s fear flourish by planting a nanny, played by Billie Lourd, into Ally, and Ivy’s life who says children fill her with dread, and gifting him a Twisty the Clown doll, and I think it’s safe to say he’s probably responsible for the appearance of some other clowns Ally sees around as well. Of course, this means that Kai is also the leader of the cult in which the season revolves around, and the trailer ends with him saying to join them.
I don’t know how everyone else feels about the trailer, but to me it’s a really really good trailer, and has got me even more pumped for this season. I also can’t help but feel similarities between Kai, and his cult (of clowns) to Jerome and his “Joker cult” from Gotham (is the Joker Cult a thing in the comic books? I clearly don’t know).
Along with this footage, we also got to see how this season’s opening credits look, yesterday.
American Horror Story Cult premieres in only two weeks, on September 5th.
