The Horror Syndicate’s Top 100 Horror Movies of All-Time

When the Horror Syndicate was in its infant stages, I put the task before the team in ranking horror movies.  I wanted to build the ultimate list of horror movies for any fan, new and old.  The list would consist of the very best horror had to offer.  This list was eventually broken down by decade and some of you may have seen those lists, I will link before we start the actual list.  I want to put this out there, for everyone to know, this list is a work in progress.  There are so many movies we did not cover in our first attempt and we aim to improve in 2017.  But for now, with the knowledge of horror movies coming in, this is our list.

This list could be viewed as a starter list for any incoming fans of the genre.  This list could be viewed as a map of some of the more “main stream” horror movies that are a must watch.

When we got into the ranking, there were over 200 films we chose from, missing are very many sequels.  For instance Friday the 13th has 12 movies, will only a couple may have made the list.  But at the same time, it would nice to have a “The Horror Syndicate” rating for every film.  These movies would be ranked and averaged out by the entire staff.

Speaking of which, how did we do it?  We broke the genre down in 5 categories and we ranked each movie in each 1 to 10 in each category.  When we had a total, we divided the total by 5 and got an average.  We took everyone’s average and added them together, the again divided the numbers up by the number of members.

It is a long process, but you know what…we are looking for movie suggestions, add them in the comments below.  We also would love to make a fan’s list of maybe a top 50.

I have been watching horror films since I was 6 years old. The story, one Saturday night, my mom and I were watching movies and she fell asleep on the couch. We had the channel set on HBO and the movie we were watching ended and the next one, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge. This was some time in 1986. I watched then entire film, I was sitting on the edge of my seat. When my mom woke, she asked me what just ended and I told her, “Freddy”. That was all I talked about for weeks and finally she broke down and rented more horror films for me. She rented, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2, Re-Animator, Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives and Halloween II. I watched all and fell in love with horror films forever. 5 Horror Films to Watch Inferno (1980) A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) The Beyond (1981) Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives (1986) Horror of Dracula (1958)
