This is huge news, I mean it really is huge news. The 1990 Night of the Living Dead film, directed by Tom Savini, starring Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman is finally getting a region A blu ray release, FUCKING FINALLY!
Is it something to be truly excited about? I was personally hoping for a Scream Factory, which made tons of sense with recent releases of Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead and the Zack Snyder remake of Dawn of the Dead. If this is a good edition, all we need now is a good collector’s edition of Dawn of the Dead from 1978. The Criterion Collection of the original Night of the Living Dead is gorgeous!
Bloody-Disgusting broke the news.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Blu-ray on October 23. Here is the Amazon link.
On a related note, you can now pre-order the film’s soundtrack on vinyl!
“It’s a new night for terror – and a new dawn in horror movie-making when special-effects genius Tom Savini brings modern technology to this colorful remake of George A. Romero’s 1968 cult classic. Seven strangers are trapped in an isolated farmhouse while cannibalistic zombies – awakened from death by the return of a radioactive space probe – wage a relentless attack, killing (and eating) everyone in their path. The classic for the 90s: graphic, gruesome and more terrifying than ever!”
