Texas Frightmare Weekend 2018 kicks off tomorrow!

It’s that time of year again! Time for horror fans from all over to flock to Dallas, Texas to attend one of the best horror conventions around. This year isn’t unlike the rest, with it’s killer guests, panels, and more. Ticket sales have ended online but are still available at the event for $75 for a weekend pass, and $30 for daily passes.

Texas Frightmare Weekend is having several different reunions this year, including one with the Cenobites from the Hellraiser franchise, and Clive Barker, the Jason actors from the Friday the 13th franchise, which is very fitting since this is Frightmare’s 13th convention, and Chucky and Saw reunions. Other guests you can expect to see at Texas Frightmare are Scream’s Matthew Lillard, members from the 2017 It’s Losers Club, Billy Zane, Ron Perlman, and many more.

Texas Frightmare Weekend officially kicks off from 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm tomorrow, Friday, May 4. Tomorrow’s schedule of events includes a Jason Voorhees Panel at 9 pm, several screenings, including a midnight screening of the Syndicate’s friend Troy Escamilla’s new Christmas slasher film, Stirring, and of Texas Frightmare’s yearly friday night party. This year’s party theme is Camp Crystal Lake Grand reopening! VIP and premium pass holders gain free entry into the party while weekend pass holders can get in for $15, single day pass holders for $20, and if you don’t have a ticket for the convention but want to go to the party, you can get in for $25. If you plan on going make sure to put on your best costume and participate in the costume contest!

The convention hours for Saturday are 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Some of the events happening Saturday are several panels focused on horror film making, of course many panels with guests, including a Chucky, and Cenobites panel, and many more screenings. Also happening Saturday night are the VIP party, as well as the free scary-oke karaoke party.

On it’s last day, Sunday, the convention is open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Sunday doesn’t have as many screenings and panels as the other days, but still quite a bit to keep you busy. One of the panels happening Sunday is the panel with the kids from the 2017 IT’s Losers Club.

Of course there are also a bunch of awesome vendors that will be selling horror merchandise at the convention all weekend. I always manage to find my new favorite piece of horror merch there, whether that’s a poster or t-shirt, and always end up spending more money at the vendors than on autographs and pictures from guests. As usual, Mondo has a couple of different Texas Frightmare exclusive prints that are really cool, and sure to sell out quickly. Texas Frightmare also has a decent assortment of their own merch available to purchase. Another thing that’s always great to experience at Texas Frightmare is all of the sweet cosplays. I myself will be dressed as Ripley on Saturday!

You can check Texas Frightmare Weekend’s website for the full guest lineup, and schedule for the weekend.

About Morgan Jewel Sawan 84 Articles
Graduate from Oregon State University, with a Bachelor's of Science in Liberal Studies, a self made degree plan, that focused on media, writing, film, and women, gender and sexuality studies, aptly titled "Writing for and about film with a feminist perspective". I inherited my love of halloween and horror movies from my mom. My favorite horror movie is Scream, which is highly ironic considering I was deathly afraid of Ghostface, who I had very vivid nightmares about that I still remember perfectly, as a child. Some of my other favorites are Hereditary, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Beetlejuice, The Shining, The Conjuring, and much more! Even though I’ve pretty much been a life long fan of horror I still have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to the classics, ergo my Millennial Morgan Plays Catch Up reviews, which I plan to bring back soon. My passion project for the site is our digital zine, called Fright Like A Girl that's all about women in horror, made by women who love horror! In my free time, besides writing for the site, and working on my dream of becoming an actress and film maker, I enjoy making youtube videos (MJ Sawan on youtube), playing video games, going to conventions like Texas Frightmare, and Horror Hound, and cosplaying! I've cosplayed as Nancy Thompson from A Nightmare On Elm Street, Ripley from Aliens, and more. You can follow me on twitter, @frightlikeagirl, where I tweet A LOT about movies of all types, and the people in them.
