In 1994, James O’Barr’s The Crow was released in theaters and became one of the most iconic horror action movies of the 90’s starring Brandon Lee in his final role before his accidental death on set. Brandon Lee was the son of former martial artist and mega star Bruce Lee. Brandon, started in a few movies such as Laser Mission, Showdown in Little Tokyo (co-starring Dolph Lundgren) and Rapid Fire (which was a bigger role for Lee). 
It wasn’t until The Crow, directed by Alex Proyas and written by David J Schow and John Shirley, where Lee became a household name and legacy for playing the role of Eric Draven, a rock musician who was murdered by a junkie gang.
The film was released as an unfinished cut of the final film. Additional scenes were added with a stunt double to wrap up productions for the theatrical release.
In my opinion, the Crow stuck with my not only as a horror fan but as a revenge action fan with film favorites such as Death Wish 3, Vigilante, and Rolling Thunder. But something seemed rush towards the ending of the film. It wasn’t until the 2011 blu Ray release of The Crow where additional deleted scenes,mostly unfinished including the Skull Cowboy who plays a major role in the comic series. Another scene includes an extended version ( in my opinion, an extremely emotional scene accompanied by a dark score) where deceased Eric Draven returns to his home, the crime scene where him and his fiancé, Shelly were murdered by a gang led by T-Bird ,played by David Patrick Kelly (The Warriors, 48 Hours, The Last Man Standing)
Another scene, which was watered down by the MPAA, was the club shootout which featured more bullets, stabbing, slicing and dicing, and of course bloodier than what the American audience experienced in 94.
The Crow had multiple disastrous spin-offs that did the first film no justice. The Crow: City of Angels remains the most fan hated of the entire series and even that film received a director’s cut which was mostly a green filter. There was even a Crow where Edward Furlong (Terminator 2, American History X) looked like a vengeful Bozo The Clown with sad acting by Tara Reid (Sharknado, American Pie) and mediocre performance by the late Dennis Hopper ( Blue Velvet, Easy Rider). The television series was decent and the only redeeming Crow sequel was The Crow: Salvation.
I think instead of making sequels and a remake, Hollywood should release a proper directors cut with all of the deleted scenes and additional scenes cleaned up and included in the final product.
Who am I though, I’m just a fan of the first movie and actually give a damn about the final product. just watch the videos listed above and tell me if you agree or not the directors cut will do the film and Brandon Lee even more justice in the comments and enjoy the fan video for Stone Temple Pilots’ Big Empty which was written for the film.
