Friday the 13th Reboot Casting News

I predicted this movie would not make its release date of October 13th 2017.  Well, I could be wrong as the film has jumped in to pre-production.  There is casting news and a possible title.  The title doesn’t make much sense for a remake, but it may just be a place holder.  This will be the 13th Friday the 13th movie, so Friday the 13th part 13 is the working title.

So far, I have read about the casting of a young boy to play Jason and a male to play Elias Voorhees, Jason’s father.

Elias Voorhees casting call reads:

The casting call is seeking a “powerful-looking” male Caucasian in his late 30s-50s, and it describes Elias as a park ranger who works in the vicinity of Camp Crystal Lake. It goes on to mention that he “sees the wickedness in Jason and the effects it has on Pamela,” eventually leaving them but continuing to be a park ranger nearby.

Interesting to me, Elias has been mentioned in a novel and was written out of the Jason Lives.  So this would be his first on screen appearance.

Jason Voorhees casting call reads:

Male, Caucasian, 12 years old ONLY SEEKING IDENTICAL TWINS W/ TV AND FILM CREDITS. MUST BE UNDER 5 FOOT. NO EXCEPTIONS. Lengthy and awkward. A dark, ominous child, who has severe psychological issues. Must have a very electric and expressive face (you will be painting the scene with your facial expressions), as this role does not speak. YOUNG JASON will grow into the pyscho-killer JASON. SUPPORTING ROLE. MUST BE ATLANTA BASED

Interesting stuff, I wonder if we are going to get a long drawn out back story or flashbacks.  Either way, it is great to see the new Friday the 13th is moving forward.  I can’t wait to see what they come up with.  I hope Jason is cast correctly and we have a fun “teenage” cast.  The one thing about these movies I want to see, a camp with counselors picked off one by one or even two at a time, with children in the camp, like Jason Lives.

Stay tuned to the Horror Syndicate for more news on Friday the 13th remake and more!
