It takes a long time for me to see some of these Indie films and really it has to do with waiting for a newer home video release. Yeah, I like to buy my Indie horror movies for sure, I could steal them, but that is a dick move and some of these director’s are bros.
Synopsis:
In the wake of two back-to-back mass murders on Chico’s frat row, loner Brent Chirino must infiltrate the ranks of a popular fraternity to investigate his twin brother’s murder at the hands of the serial killer known as “Motherface.”
Christ, how do you review this movie? I will tell you, this may be a short one, because this movie is out of fucking control. I will tell everyone now, there is no Dude Bro Party Massacre I or II. But this movie covers what happens in the, should be movies. Yes should be, there really should be three of these. I would watch these if they were ever made, but they are recounted in the first few minutes of the film.
There has been a trend over the past few years of making 1980s style horror movies. The nostalgia hits all of us in out 30s who lived through the 80s and watched all of these great and campy horror movies. Some say 80s horror is the best, maybe. But there were some stinkers back then and usually they had something to do with either a slumber party or sorority house and a massacre. So Dude Bro is a play on that and a self aware camp fest and that is what makes it wonderful. Watching it with Jared, we kept wondering how long they could keep it up before it got old. Short answer, it never got old. They were able to find ways to amp it up to get to the end of the movie. It was so fucking dumb and hilarious. They did a good job of following the fraternity archetypes 100% too! Not to mention a couple of great cameos, one is Patton Oswalt and the other…you will have to wait and see.
Don’t go in to this movie and expect a big time serious horror film. It isn’t, it is balls to the wall laughs and fun effects. I really was surprised how much I enjoyed this movie. If you are looking for something that is silly and a lot of fun, check out Dude Bro Party Massacre III, now! You will love the killer, Motherface, trust me.
