Wait… is it Friday the 13th!!!

it's Friday the 13th and Jenny From The Horror Syndicate Takes Philadelphia

Mike , Mike , Mike what day is it …
If you are superstitious Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day . This myth evolved from the biblical story of the 13th guest at the last super betraying Jesus .
However , to us horror fans, Friday the 13th means we celebrate Jason Voorhees and his revenge on teenagers from camp crystal lake . Jason was the son of the camp cook. He drowned in crystal lake due to the negligence of the camp counselors . In (1980) the first Friday the 13th movie was released and is based on Jason’s mom seeking her revenge for her sons death .

The series goes on with part 2 in 1981,Part 3 in 1982,
Final Chapter in 1984,New Beginning in 1985,
Jason Lives in 1986,New Blood in 1988 and Jason Takes Manhattan in 1989.
In 2003 Freddy Vs. Jason was released .
This Friday the 13th I was invited to attend a party at Redz Bar and Grill where there would be a cosplay contest for the best Jason .
I had the honor of meeting Mike McManis who has been doing cosplay for 12 years . He started with a love for Halloween and his neighbor urging him to decorate more and start dressing as the character Jason while his neighbor dressed as Freddy Krueger .
Mike’s first horror movie he ever saw was The Exorcist . His favorite movie was Jaws . Over the years Mike has cosplayed at Horror conventions and Tattoo conventions as well.

Mike’s costume on Friday was Jason from Jason VS. Freddy.
His costume was accurately portrayed even down to lifts in his shoes to make him the correct height for the Jason character .
Mike engaged the crowd , was friendly to everyone and even posed for pictures with costumers and myself .
Sadly only one other person dressed up . I didn’t even get to talk to the other Jason because he disappeared .
I gave Mike the prize from us at The Horror Syndicate and management from Redz awarded him with their prize as well .
One of the young girls approached me during the night and asked what the event was about . She had never heard of Friday The 13th movie or the Jason Voorhees character .

Sadly times have changed .I would like to urge all of us to get the word out about horror films to the younger generations. They are missing out on great films !
I would also like to bring attention to the ladies again.Even though venues throw events with “ male” character themes it’s ok to still dress up as the character and make it into your own version.I  would love to see more women at these events . I KNOW YOU ARE OUT THERE !!!!

Huge thank you to Redz Bar and Grill in Pa, the bartenders Chrissy and Flip and the manager Christina .
Please enjoy the photos and support Resyn Thomas Photography.

Thank you to everyone who came out and I enjoyed meeting new people and signing some pictures .
Until next time hugs and hisses
Love ,
Jenny

Here’s my top 5 picks 1. 1931 Dracula with Bela Lugosi I am a huge fan of classic horror 2.1978 Halloween 3.1994 The Crow 4.2003 Identity 5.1973 The Exorcist ( I have only watched this movie a handful of times because it absolutely terrifies me ) A little bit about me .... I am a fan of slasher movies , in particular 70’s -80’s era . I prefer Vampire movies over Zombie movies . I will not watch anything that has to do with religion . I grew up Catholic and the Exorcist terrified me . I just don’t enjoy that type of genre . The church scared me enough growing up . Sci -Fi Horror doesn’t really interest me too much . Thrillers are my second pick to watch over slasher movies . Some of my favorite directors are John Carpenter , Eli Roth , Steven King and Rob Zombie . I look forward to sharing my experiences and opinions to all of you .... “ Welcome to my nightmare, I think your gonna like it , I think your gonna feel you belong “ - Alice Cooper
