Friday the 13th Reboot News

Is it a remake or reboot.  We know for sure it is no sequel to the remake of 2009 or any other Friday the 13th movie.

This is what we have learned.

The producer, Brad Fuller talked a little about Jason’s return, starting Aaron Guzikowski’s script delves into the backstory of Jason Voorhees – though it’s not quite an origin story.  Which, I feel it would be tough and almost pointless to spend too much time on an origin for Jason.  I wouldn’t say no to more Pamela Voorhees.

Here is the quotes.

Aaron’s story has great characters…You kind of have to understand Jason Voorhees, so we go back and we kind of started over and work our way forward,” said Fuller. “[It’s] origin-ish, but it’s an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela’s there, but it’s a little bit different from what you’ve seen before.”

There was a lot of found-footage scripts that they wanted us to make and I was not going to do that because I don’t think that can exist in Jason Voorhees’ world,” Fuller added, once again asserting that we’ll likely never have to watch Jason kill horny teens through the eye of a shaky camera.

There is no director attached to the Friday the 13th 2017 film.  As far as I can tell January 13th, 2017 is still the release date.  So…times ticking.

I personally cannot wait for more news.  I do hope they change the release date to October 13th.  More time to shoot a decent movie and its October.

I have been watching horror films since I was 6 years old. The story, one Saturday night, my mom and I were watching movies and she fell asleep on the couch. We had the channel set on HBO and the movie we were watching ended and the next one, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge. This was some time in 1986. I watched then entire film, I was sitting on the edge of my seat. When my mom woke, she asked me what just ended and I told her, “Freddy”. That was all I talked about for weeks and finally she broke down and rented more horror films for me. She rented, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2, Re-Animator, Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives and Halloween II.
