The Exorcist Believer Trailer #2 and a Theory

A new trailer was dropped a bit ago for the upcoming sixth Exorcist film.  We’re still not 100% sure how they’ll handle the sequels, I’m sure they’ll gloss over them.Demons.

Synopsis:

Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom, Jr.) has raised their daughter Angela (Lidya Jewett) on his own.

But when Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum) disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn).

In the newest trailer, Reagan is mentioned by name to her mother Chris MacNeil.  The Horror Syndicate’s Seth T. Miller takes issue with the inclusion of Ellen Burstyn being a part of The Exorcist Believer, for good reason.  Part of me agrees.  It makes almost no sense based on the trailers, but just like the Halloween trilogy from David Gordon Green, they needed to have a character return from the original film.  With Limda Blair, not really being a fan of even talking about the Exorcist, I guess Ellen Burstyn is the next best choice.

My theory on why Chris MacNiel is in the news Exorcist.

Maybe over the last 50 years she tirelessly researched the demon and exorcism that she became a leading expert after writing books on her experience with her daughter. She has somewhat experienced what is happening to these young girls with her daughter. Seth mentions, she was mostly sidelined, she didn’t preform the exorcism, which is true. She was extremely abused by the demons.

Of course I could be wrong and probably am way off. But, we are not far from the release of the Exorcist: Believer and to be honest, I am excited.

Of course this is a small theory, but it is a little something. I am struggling on how there will be there of these movies. I guess we will see. Oh and I’m concerned about Reagan, what ever happened to her? Is she dead or alive somewhere? They ask Chris MacNeil “Are you looking for Reagan?” I wonder what we will see October 6th.

What do you think? Do you have any wild theories on the new Exorcist movie?

I have been watching horror films since I was 6 years old. The story, one Saturday night, my mom and I were watching movies and she fell asleep on the couch. We had the channel set on HBO and the movie we were watching ended and the next one, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge. This was some time in 1986.
