The Lost Boys is a vampire movie about two teens who movie with their mother to Santa Carla, California. The oldest Michael, makes some new friends, they are vampires. When his brother Sam suspects his Michael is a vampire, with the help from the Frog brothers, the find it is time to take down the leader of the brood, David. Need I say more, I would assume of you who could be reading this have seen the Lost Boys. If not, no time like the present.
This movie means a lot to me, before I every saw Dracula, I had the Lost Boys. It is an 80s movie for sure, but it holds up. There are two sequels, but they suffer from poor acting and poor story. It would have been better to see the sequels happen soon, rather than 2008 and 2010. They are not terrible, but for me hard to watch. In the early 1990s there was supposed to be a sequel titled, the Lost Girls and Joel Schumacher tried throughout the 1990s to get the movie made. Since he could not get the Lost Girls made, he ruined Batman. I actually think this could be a good time to bring that movie to light and return to the older days of vampire movies. I wouldn’t say no to a remake either or an update. But the original is a good vampire movie, not like whatever is passing for vampire movies these days. That could be why it still holds up. The Lost Boys does go balls to the wall, especially in the scene where David takes Michael to the punk rock beach party.
There are so many things about this movie that I love. It actually has a great story, the characters are all likable and there is a little plot twist at the end of the film, for those who have not seen the Lost Boys. The music or the soundtrack is pretty great and so many memorable moments in this one.
So, join me and watch the Lost Boys and remember, just like the guy below…I still believe!
