Seven In Heaven is Blumhouse’s newest teen party game horror flick which was dropped on Netflix last week. This is the second film written and directed by Chris Eigeman, who is known for his roles in tv shows It’s Like, You Know… and Gilmore Girls. Seven In Heaven follows teens Jude and June who have to survive in a world where everything feels off after exiting the closet during a game of seven minutes in heaven.
The film is supposed to have several different stories that are pieced together, and although it’s an intriguing idea and each story has an interesting enough plot, the connections between them are poor, and each story feels unfinished. There are several questions that are raised, yet left unanswered. I find it hard to appreciate the handful of moments that were really attention grabbing due to the fact that they don’t really go anywhere. While most of the other elements of the film, from the acting to the cinematography, also have their fair share of issues that out weigh the positives, the one thing that they really have going for them is the pace. While it starts out slow, it quickly picks up, and I found myself surprised when I was near the end. Ultimately, the film seems to not have had the budget and resources to accomplish what they wanted it to.
Seven In Heaven would be ideal to watch with a group of friends while drinking and goofing around. It ‘s a fun film if you don’t expect too much or over think it. Keeping those things in mind, it’s worth the watch.
